Bridget Veld is an accredited Mental Health Social Worker (MAASW). As an accredited MAASW, Bridget has a breadth of experience in assessing and working effectively with people experiencing a range of mental health concerns and to work collaboratively with clients to resolve the associated psychosocial issues to improve their quality of life. This may include family as well as individual counselling and/or group work.
Under the Better Access initiative, mental health care is now more accessible and affordable for people living with mental illness and/or mental health concerns.
Individual Entitlements under Medicare Benefits Scheme (MBS) for Treatment under the Better Access to Mental Health Care Scheme:
Ø If eligible, (check with your GP), a person can receive up to TEN individual sessions per calendar year (January to December) with a Social Worker for which a Medicare rebate is available.
Ø After your first SIX sessions with your social worker, you must make an appointment to see your referring doctor to get the next FOUR sessions approved in writing.
Accessible & Affordable Mental Health Services
Bridget does not bulk-bill however does offer a discount for clients with a Low Income Health Care Card. With generous Medicare rebates available for Social Worker assistance (currently $74.80 for a 50 minute session), out-of-pocket expenses are kept at a minimum:
$120.00 for a standard 50 minute consultation/session.
$110.00 concession (Centrelink Low Income Health Care Card).
Focussed Psychological Interventions
Bridget is offering focussed psychological interventions to children, adolescents and adults with a range of mental health issues.
Bridget has a commitment to contemporary therapies and targeted social work/psychological strategies to help you reach a life of increased well-being.
Collaborative Working Relationships with other Professionals
Bridget places great value in building collaborative working relationships with medical providers and other health professionals to assist clients to feel supported holistically.
Bridget has extensive experience working with children, adolescents and their families within the Primary and Secondary school system. Bridget can assist families with many school related concerns including anxiety, disengagement and school refusal.
Bridget is experienced in developing, implementing and evaluating group work programmes. Bridget can also provide school consultation; recommendations for Behaviour Management plans and/or psychosocial education to parents, students and/or school staff, eg attachment disorder, Social & Emotional Learning Programs, mental health and young people, healthy relationships etc.
